Many commercial book readers are a convenient, but often expensive way of reading books. Aldiko is different. There is no need to carry a second portable device; it sits on an Android mobile phone waiting for the user to start it.
Personal library
Aldiko holds the user’s personal library of eBooks. Here snapshots of cover images are shown, and books can be quickly retrieved. Viewable books are in .epub format, and Aldiko has a huge library of books available for download. Downloadable books include classic authors, such as Jane Austen, Charles Dickens, Nathaniel Hawthorne and even William Shakespeare. Contemporary novels are available, as are O’Reilly and Microsoft Press technical eBooks.
Many books, particularly public domain classics are available free of charge. Other books, notably O’Reilly are chargeable.
