Laws prohibiting hand-held cell phone use while driving are being considered in several state legislatures. Currently there are seven states and the District of Columbia that completely ban all hand held phones while driving. Other states have legislation pending regarding this matter. While new cars come with the option for Bluetooth calling, older cars must be fitted with devices in order to comply with the hands free laws, if the driver wishes to use his/her cell phone while driving.
